Description
The NPE-240S2 heats water only as it is drawn, so there is no storage tank to keep hot overnight and no point at which a long run of showers simply runs out. Gas input modulates between 13,300 and 199,900 BTU per hour to match the flow being used, and two stainless steel heat exchangers pull extra heat back out of the exhaust before it leaves the unit. That second stage is what earns it a 0.96 Uniform Energy Factor.
Navien rates it at 11.2 gallons per minute at a 35°F temperature rise and 8.7 GPM at 45°F. It is the largest model in the series and is sized for bigger households or colder inlet water, and it keeps firing at flows as low as 0.5 GPM for a single basin. It is the S2 version of the NPE-2 range, meaning it has no built-in recirculation pump; choose the A2 version of the same size if you want that. The EZNav display on the front shows set temperature and live flow, and the cabinet hangs on a wall indoors or outdoors.
This is a gas appliance. It has to be installed by a licensed plumbing or heating professional, following Navien’s installation manual and your local codes for gas supply, venting and condensate drainage. Please confirm sizing and fuel type with your installer before you order.
